Vietnam, Russia Reach New Agreements

(VEN) - The first meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Ivanovic Shuvalov as the co-chairs of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-governmental Committee was held on November 21 in Hanoi. At the meeting, the two parties addressed possible measures to strengthen and further boost bilateral economic, trade and science-technology ties, particularly in the area of energy.

Drafting an SME Development Plan

(VEN) - A seminar on providing suggestions for improving a draft plan for the development of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 2011-2015 recently took place in Hanoi. At the seminar, the Business Development Department of the Ministry of Planning and Investment introduced the targets laid out in the draft plan. They include the establishment of an additional 450,000 SMEs, 10 percent of all SMEs to be involved in direct export activities, SME investment to account for 40 percent of the total investment capital, and SMEs to make a 30 percent contribution to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and a 35 percent contribution to the state budget revenue and to create four million more jobs.

CPI in Hanoi in November: an increase of 0.29%; in Ho Chi Minh City, 0.28%

Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Hanoi in November has increased by 0.29% as against the previous month, a year-on-year 18.49% increase and a 16.36% increase over December last year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Department.
