Taiwan (China) has announced that it allows the imports of Viet Nam’s dragonfruitsfrom June 1, according to the Plant Protection Department, under the Ministry ofAgricultureand Rural Development on April 12.
The Plant Protection Department is cooperating with the Bureau of Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ) to invite Taiwanese professionals to Viet Nam and provide them with information about the processing and exports of dragonfruits.
Earlier, Viet Nam exported around 10,000 tons of dragonfruitsto Taiwan a year but Taiwan did not allow importing Vietnamese dragonfruitssince 2008, reasoning a type of fly that eatsguavacould inhabit in thefruitand enter Taiwan.
In 2015, Viet Nam shipped aboard one million ton of dragonfruits.
