AGRO-FORESTRY-FISHERIES EXPORTS HIT US$23.3 BILLION IN NINE MONTHS

Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fisheries exports in September are estimated at US$2.5 billion, bringing the total nine-month figure to US$23.3 billion, up 6% year on year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country has exported 396,000 tonnes of rice, worth US$176 million during the month of September. For the January–September period, the volume of exported rice hit 3.76 million tonnes, valued at US$1.69 billion, down 16.4% in volume and 12.5% in value, respectively.

China remains the largest importer of Vietnamese rice with a 35.5% market share, followed by Ghana and Indonesia, with respective market shares of 11% and 9.4%.

Meanwhile, coffee recorded a 22% export growth—the strongest among industrial plants from the same period of last year. As many as 113,000 tonnes worth US$221 million were shipped overseas in September, driving the total volume and value for nine months to 1.39 million tonnes and US$2.48 billion.

Exporters of cashew nuts and pepper raked in US$2.01 billion and US$1.19 billion, respectively, from selling 255,000 tonnes and 146,000 tonnes during the nine months.

Having suffered a downtrend for a period, tea and rubber have bounced back, respectively enjoying positive growth of 0.2% and 1% and earning US$152 million and US$1.1 billion.

Shipment of aquatic products is estimated to hit US$4.9 billion for the nine-month period, rising by 4.3% from the same time last year.

Forestry exports were valued at US$5.1 billion, equivalent to the same period last year.
