Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust of billionaire Bill Gates and his wife recently completed a deal that turns it into a major shareholder of VEIL – the largest investment fund in Vietnam.
The trust fund spent an additional $12 million to buy shares in the Vietnam Enterprise Investment Ltd (VEIL) – the investment fund managed by Dragon Capital.
After the transaction, the total number of shares owned by the trust fund in VEIL increased to 11.34%, equivalent to $88 million.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust was established to manage the finances of the charity organization Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
By the end of 2015, the total net asset value of the trust fund amounted to $39.5 billion.
VEIL was established in 1995 and currently has total net assets of $900 million.
