Japan supports 85 billion yen to develop Vietnam seaport

A source of information from VOV said that Japan is making its plan to support over 85 billion yen (which is equal to USD 781 million) to develop structure such as roads, seaports in Vietnam.

This loan is mainly focused on seaport projects in Vietnam, of which are Lach Huyen port in Hai Phong and several projects related to traffic structure.

According to the plan, the project of Lach Huyen port will be implemented in May 2018, it will be later than 5 months compared to primary expectation.

On April 2016, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed an agreement with a representative of Vietnam government on cooperation in infrastructure sector in Vietnam in the form of Official Development Assistant (ODA).

The cooperation with Vietnam in seaport projects it will support Vietnam to improve its competitiveness within regionally and internationally in order to meet transshipment demand for deadweight tonnage vessels in deep seaports.

JICA’s 114 projects are implemented in more than 20 provinces and cities in Vietnam. Within past 20 years, since Japan began to give its ODA fund to Vietnam (in 1992) and the sector of traffic structure is always given the priority.

Thanks to this fund together with ODA from other organizations have greatly contributed to the development of traffic system, promoting socio-economic development of Vietnam, JICA added.
