VCCI proposes business law amendment

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has proposed a range of amendments to 16 valid laws and guiding documents to further improve the business environment.

In its freshly released report on the issue, VCCI recommended amendments to the Law on Land, the Enterprise Law, the Investment Law, the Commercial Law, the Civil Code, the Maritime Law, the Bidding Law, the Construction Law, the Law on Intellectual property, the Customs Law, the Law on Environment Protection, the Law on Tax Management, the Accounting Law, the Tax Management Law, the Value-added Tax Law and the Corporate Income Tax.

In addition, VCCI also proposed revisions to around 200 guiding documents already introduced by the Government and relevant ministries.

The report was made in two years, supported by legal and business experts from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It assessed that the current laws have enabled businesses to gain greater access to markets, resources, fields of business and better equality.

However, the implementation of laws revealed obstacles in the spheres of business operation, business freedom, land allocation, capital access, business registration, and others.

The report will be submitted to the National Assembly for amendment soon.
