
Vietnam was the 11th largest supplier of rubber to the US in the first seven months of 2021, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency for Foreign Trade.
During the period, the US imported 1.09 million tonnes of rubber worth US$2.19 billion, of which Vietnam accounted for 23,510 tonnes worth US$41.87 million, up 61% in volume and 92.3% in value.
Vietnam’s share rose to 2.2%, compared to the 1.5% recorded during the first seven months of 2020.
The largest exporters of rubber to the US were Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, the Republic of Korea, and Ivory Coast.
Notably, Vietnam was the fourth largest supplier of natural rubber to the US, with 23,460 tonnes at a value of US$41.65 million, helping to raise Vietnam’s share to 4.3% from 2.9% a year ago.
However, Vietnam’s synthetic rubber accounted for just 0.01% of the US’s total synthetic rubber imports, which were estimated at 396,200 tonnes worth US$823.13 million during the January-July period.
The Republic of Korea, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Russia were the five largest suppliers of synthetic rubber to the US.
