Vietnam, India seek stronger friendship and cooperation

VUFO

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship (ISCUF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2017-2022 period, with a view to enhancing exchanges and the mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Indian people.

It is also hoped that the document will further promote cooperation between the two countries in terms of politics, economy, culture, tourism, science and technology and people-to-people exchanges.

Addressing the signing ceremony in Hanoi on July 10, VUFO Vice President and Secretary General Don Tuan Phong highlighted the traditional relations that exist between Vietnam and India, saying that the two nations have always supported and assisted each other in their past struggles for national liberation as well as their current processes of national construction.

The MoU is a foundation for the two sides to deploy specific activities in a bid to further promote mutual understanding, their traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese and Indian people, contributing to the realisation of agreements reached between senior leaders, he noted.

Phong promised that the VUFO and the Vietnam-India Friendship Association will create favourable conditions and fully implement the MoU.

ISCUF Secretary General Bijay Kumar Padhihari said the MoU will not only deepen the friendship and mutual understanding between the Indian and Vietnamese people, but also open a new direction for settling international issues of mutual concern.

Under the document, the two sides will recommend that the two Governments commend organisations and individuals for their contributions to enhancing exchanges, friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ people.

They will also work together to organise seminars, forums, fairs, and the visits of business delegations; provideenterprises of the two countries with information concerning each other’s business climate; introduce attractive tourism sites of the two nations; and suggest that the relevant authorities of both sides consider establishing bonds among their localities.
