Within the framework of the 13thAsia-EuropeMeeting (ASEM) Customs Directors-General and Commissioners Meeting held by the General Department of Vietnam Customs on October 9 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, Deputy Minister of Finance Do Hoang Anh Tuan had a reception with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Dr. Kunio Mikuriya.
At the reception, Deputy Minister of Finance Do Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the assistance of Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya and the WCO tothe Ministry of Finance and Vietnam Customs in recent years. Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his commitment that Vietnam Customs will make great effort for the success of the 13th ASEM.
Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed the role of Customs authorities in ensuring globalization of supply chains and combating illegal wildlife transportation, intellectual property infringement, drug smuggling, transporting waste and hazardous goods.
Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan proposed Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya and WCO to continue supporting Vietnam Customsin promoting global economic exchanges, developing customs-business partnerships; combating smuggling of wild animals, goods infringing intellectual property rights, waste causing harm to the environment and not affecting the global supply flow.
Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan also asked the WCO to assist the Ministry of Finance in developing a digital deployment plan for state governance, including administration of tax, customs and treasury.
In response to the goodwill of the Ministry of Finance's leader, WCO Secretary General, Dr. Kunio Mikuriya highly appreciated the hosting of the 13th ASEM by Vietnam Customs and agreed to create favorable conditions and cooperate with Vietnam Customs in many areas such as developing customs-business partnerships, facilitating global supply chains; combating smuggling, illegal goods transportation, infringement of intellectual property, waste transportation, combating e-commerce fraud to benefit consumers and the national interests.
