An exchange and exhibition program, entitled “ASEAN – Colorful Culture”, co-held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Women’s Union, took place on August 3rd in Hanoi.
The event, marking the 49th anniversary of ASEAN (August 8th, 1967) and one-year anniversary of the ASEAN Women's Circle of Ha Noi (AWCH), aims to promote understanding, friendship and practical support for the goal of building an ASEAN Community of solidarity, cooperation and mutual development.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga, Honorary President of AWCH emphasized that the belief in the strength of solidarity and the “unity in diversity” is key to connecting countries in Southeast Asia under the common roof of ASEAN Community. The diversity and differences have created cooperation opportunities and made an attractive identity for the ASEAN Community, bringing the community’s values beyond the region, she said.
The exhibition, introducing images of nations, people and products, deeply imbued with the national identities of ASEAN members, is a vivid picture of the diverse cultural features, bearing the quintessence of the Southeast Asian nations.
A number of typical handicraft products, including those made by women will be displayed at the exhibition. On this occasion, the ambassador and wives of ASEAN countries’ ambassadors to Vietnam presented gifts to needy women in Hanoi.
