Hanoi, July 10 (VNA) – The under-negotiating Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), once successful, would strongly raise Vietnam-US trade and practically benefit the two countries’ common development, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has evaluated.

He expressed his hopes that Managing Director of Warburg Pincus Investment Foundation Kenneth Juster, who was once US Under-Secretary of Commerce, would do more to persuade US officials and businesses to back Vietnam in the TPP negotiations.

PM Dung gave a reception for the US guest in Hanoi on July 10 where he stated that the US remains one of Vietnam’s big investors and trade partners, and pledged the creation of possible favourable conditions for foreign investors, including US businesses, to undertake long-term cooperation deals.

The Government leader said he believes the Warburg Pincus’s first deal with Vietnam’s Vingroup will pave the wider way for its potential future transactions in the country.

The Managing Director of Warburg Pincus said he expects that not only Warburg Pincus but other US investors would enjoy favourable treatments to do long-term business here.

Established in New York in 1966, Warburg Pincus is one of the oldest equity firms globally. It has by far run 14 equity funds and poured over 45 billion USD in nearly 700 companies in 35 countries worldwide.

On May 28, Warburg Pincus committed buying a 20 percent stake in Vincom Retail, an affiliate of Vingroup Corporation, at a cost of 200 million USD, marking it the biggest-ever investment deal by a global equity firm in Vietnam
