RoK, Indonesia boost maritime cooperation

Jakarta, May 6 (VNA) – The Directorate General Ship, under Indonesia’s Ministry of Transport has signed with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) a record of discussion (ROD) on developing boat safety and protecting the marine environment in Indonesia.

The RoK government-funded 1.3 million USD project will be carried out over three years with the goal of providing advice to improve Indonesia’s current laws relating to maritime safety and environment.

The project will also support the improvement of education and training systems on maritime safety and environment and provide equipment for boat surveillance and inspection.

Representative of the KOICA Kim Byung Gwan said the RoK Government hopes the project will boost the two countries’ cooperation in the sea and improve Indonesian people and agencies’ capacity in boat safety and environmental protection.
