Ottawa , August 25 (VNA) – Embassy representatives from ASEAN member countries gathered at a get-together in Ottawa , Canada , on August 24 to celebrate the bloc’s 46 th anniversary.
Those in attendance took part in various sporting activities, including volleyball and tug of war. They also sampled many traditional dishes such as Vietnamese spring rolls and Indonesian gado-gado.
Held every year, the event provides a golden opportunity for ASEAN members to consolidate their friendship.
Embassies take it in turns to organise a sporting event, and this year Vietnam supervised the tug-of-war contest.
There are seven representative offices of ASEAN countries in Ottawa , namely Brunei , Indonesia , Malaysia , Myanmar , the Philippines , Thailand , and Vietnam.
