Kon Tum, July 12 (VNA) – Two more Vietnamese and Lao border villages have established twin ties, aiming at better assisting each other in defending security in the shared border and improving their socio-economic development.
They are Duc Lang village in Dak Long commune, Dak Glei district in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum (Vietnam) and Thong Kay Ooc hamlet in Sanxay district of Attapeu province (Laos).
Following a signing ceremony held in the Vietnamese village of Duc Lang on July 12, the heads and residents of the twined villages agreed on a series of measures.
Among them, they agreed to maintain the status quo of the two countries’ common borderline running through their localities as well as landmarks and signals planted in the border belt.
They vowed to seriously comply with regulations on cross-border traffic and not to till land and illegally exploit natural resources in the other side.
Environmental protection at the common border area was also agreed by the two villages.
Earlier on June 26, Dak Ung village in Dak Nhoong commune, Dak Glei district, Kon Tum province and Brong Noi village in Dak Chung district in the province of Sekong (Laos) were twined.
